could you try to ignore
the things you know —
spend a lifetime
placing pennies
in the corners
of a round room
turn out the lights
pretend to forget
return each year
expecting them
to be face up

Day 22 at Glo/NaPoWriMo we are challenged to write a poem using a phrase of impossibility.
She & He #20
Yes, we could try to ignore what we know, but it is impossible, unfortunately. At least as it pertains to the things we wish we could forget.

Excellent! I hope this is in the narrative. A pause, a knowing.

Thanks! This is a direct follow-on to Dangerous Question. Almost called it Another Dangerous Question.

Exactly my intention! Does He contemplate ignoring what he discovered in his therapy session / Does She contemplate ignoring the truth he has discovered about himself & them?
And the beat goes on… 🙂

The questions for He just keep getting harder and harder. It’s like a progressive final assessment — if you answer this one correctly, we will ramp up the difficulty. A dilemma. I’ll be waiting to see what transpires!

Great analogy! I’m just doing that therapist thing – dig until He hollers, then dig some more.
I’m counting on them wrapping this up in 8 days… otherwise I’ll just have them both arrested. 😉

as therapist I know the power of the question but as reader I thoroughly enjoyed the enigma
