Turning – An Artist’s Challenge

Completing Petru’s Challenge poem for December Casting Bricks (collaborative poetry) proved to be an immense delight! A deep fog set in this morning and this little dance ensued.  Her words are in bold (half a quadrille) and my 22 follow. The title is in honor of the very fine artist who presented the challenge.  Please stop by Petru’s beautiful site and browse around.  Anyone who would care to join us at Casting Bricks to Attract Jade is heartily welcome!

Step! Two, three and again

step two! Now – turn around

and

voice receding –

centrifugal distant tracking

rhythm raises

drum      beat

light deepening

Skip! A beat syncopate

the rhythm — cabriole

one-eighty —

centripetally returning

to

the pound, pound, pounding

in your breast –

clasp            the dark

Tournant

Dance the Moon

A Solstice Villanelle

Dance the moon, twirl it in your naked arms,
wild beneath the dark, light your soul aflame,
rejoice the night, embrace her raging charms.

Weave among the trees of ancient farms,
cast off restraint and call the orchard’s name;
dance the moon, twirl it in your naked arms

Press deep the grapes and drink you of sauternes,
let morning care for all her waking shame,
rejoice the night, embrace her raging charms

The Fury’s night runs heedless of alarms,
the solstice reel is savage, shan’t be tamed,
dance the moon, twirl it in your naked arms.

Let frenzy pour a cup your heart to warm,
spark high your heels to join you in this game,
rejoice the night, embrace her raging charms

Rush full at Sol’s bright apex to disarm,
give back to Pan the rave that is his fame,
dance the moon, twirl it in your naked arms,
rejoice the night, embrace her raging charms.

Rhapsody

Waning gibbous dance us toward that newest

Night of birth and rebirth budding

Bursting out from expiration

Skyward vine twirling

With the night bugs

Reaching

Grasping

Inhale the sun that rose

Into thy lungs unfurl each phase

And chapter write with blossom of delight
