“I took a nap and wept for no reason”
~ Jim Harrison from Songs of Unreason
A couple of years ago I found a copy of Songs of Unreason while hanging around sniffing the bindings of books in the Poetry section of the bookstore. (I know; I need to get a life.) After perusing a poem or two, I sank to the floor, sitting cross-legged, completely taken in. Finding a chair was too much work at that moment. There was so much of it that I didn’t really understand and so much of it that made my shoulder-blades itch (the onset of wings, I suppose). There are times when I read a portion and suddenly feel as though the only response is to give in to the sofa, sleep, and shed tears.
Welcome, my Unreasonable Poetic Friends, to our thirteenth Day of Unreason where we find inspiration, in whatever form it may take, from lines by poet, Jim Harrison. Care to join in? Would love that! Write, post, credit Harrison, link back here in the comments, read what others have written. Go ahead…roll around in the poetry like a dog in a dead frog. ~Jilly
