I’m enjoying myself here. I feel like I’m shedding my old skin. This is really challenging my muse.

I’m not sure what he meant by this, so the poem is about what I mean by it.

That’s the best way to go with these! Sometimes I find myself arguing the opposite, but I’m kind of contrarian…

I read the poem, ‘Vows’, and was none the wiser. I agree with the first part of the quote, but not the second. Since I didn’t understand what he was driving at in the poem I could have got the wrong end of the stick though…

Not at all. The stick the muse hands you is the right/write end!

My philosophy on the 28 Days is that if something in the line triggers me to write something, anything, then that is what I write. Sometimes it doesn’t make any sense where my muse takes me and that is why I love the poetry of Harrison. He gives me permission to not give a damn – which is something I need.

Yes, that’s how I took this one. Started off agreeing and thinking, yeah, I see that, then feeling out of step with the second phrase. Pick n’ mix for me too 🙂

Well, I’m not entirely sure what he’s getting at, but I decided it didn’t matter, and I was going to use this as a springboard. I seem to be exploring some stuff I wasn’t expecting to explore. I’m interested to see how the rest of the month goes. https://fmmewritespoems.wordpress.com/2018/06/04/fear-and-courage

Yep! Some good lines by Harrison and a crowbar, and there we are with our hearts cracked open. Keep exploring – good stuff!

Thanks for hosting these prompts from Harrison’s poetry. Here is something that might fit the current prompt: https://frankhubeny.blog/2018/06/04/cobblestone-fear/
