After following the link you sent me, I read about how the Church (capital C) co-opted the pagan “rite” and tried to sanctify it. Now this makes so much more sense! Definitely “blend the rite / bend the right / blur the sight.” We’ve created more trouble than we’ve solved. A strong lesson in a short write. Great job!
