What Love Heals

The River Can’t Heal Everything ~ Jim Harrison

Day 25
28 Days of Unreason
Touched by how you sent Mom in to watch Jeopardy with Dad
while you did the dishes,
washed the black beans and yellow rice
from her warped pans,
I wrapped my arms around you while
the steam rose in the sink.
It broke my heart that you jumped so,
reflex of fear from so many abusive years.

Turn these many springs
Asters blossom in the yard
Healing hidden pain

A kind of time heals all wounds sort-of metaphor. I could see the picture of domesticity you painted — and the pain of the dishwasher jumping; what caused that pain? Beautifully written!
